More young couples in the UAE are turning to In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment not only to conceive but also for family balancing, according to experts at IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic.
Family Balancing is the term for gender selection done for the purpose of achieving a more balanced representation of both genders in a family. Couples have the choice to opt for Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) that can determine the gender of the embryo and additionally scan for genetic conditions present in an embryo, prior to implantation through In-Vitro Fertilization.

Genetic diseases such as hemophilia or Duchenne muscular dystrophy could be fatal in boys, which make it a primary reason for couples opting to know the gender of the baby.
